Above and Beyond

Dear Trinity Friends,

Hope locates itself in the premise that we don’t know what will happen and that in the spaciousness of uncertainty is room to act. When you recognize uncertainty, you recognize that you may be able to influence the outcomes—you alone or you in concert with a few dozen or several million others. Hope is an embrace of the unknown and unknowable… it’s the belief that what we do matters.

- from Rebecca Solnit’s Hope in Dark Times

At Trinity’s Annual Meeting, one month ago, treasurer Michael Dean reported that we had a budget gap of approximately $27,500 for 2022; shortly after that, members of the parish were invited to participate in a Second Ask campaign to try to close that gap, and get us on the path to a balanced budget.

I’m delighted to announce that not only has the gap been closed, but you have gone Above and Beyond! As of March 20, Trinity has received Second Ask contributions and pledges totaling $45,000.

Thank you for your generosity. Thank you for your faithfulness. Thank you for demonstrating, tangibly, your commitment to excellent worship, music, educational programs for all ages, keeping our buildings well and properly maintained, and funding for justice and outreach.

Thank you for being willing to hope, and act, in the “spaciousness of uncertainty.” What we do, together, matters greatly.

With faith and confidence,

(and raucous celebration)
