Message from the Rector
I'm delighted to announce that we have with us this summer a seminary intern from Yale Divinity School (YDS). Yale has a program of placing students in internships at churches and various social justice and non-profit organizations around the country, and one of their students requested to spend their summer at Trinity! Cienna Dumaoal introduces herself, below. I hope you'll seek her out on Sundays, and offer her a warm welcome.
So happy you're with us, Cienna!

Hello Trinity,
My name is Cienna Dumaoal (she/they) and I will be working as a seminary intern here at Trinity this summer. I just finished my first year at Yale Divinity School, and I am also an aspirant, in the process of discerning ordination in the Episcopal Diocese of Spokane.
I'm originally from Seattle, Washington, but found my way to Santa Barbara through my fiancé who grew up here. I was raised in Reformed, evangelical traditions but found the Episcopal church, as I sought spaces where queer folx were fully loved and affirmed. As a result, my ministry focus is walking with people who are making the transition from evangelical to Episcopalian. Academically, my primary area of study is systematic theology.
I’m grateful that Yale is supporting my internship placement at Trinity. Alongside my work here, I’m participating in an internship practicum group with YDS interns placed across the country. This summer at Trinity, I’ll spend some time with the Justice and Outreach Council, help with Pride Sunday, and hopefully plan some events for my fellow ex-evangelicals who are navigating a shift to the Episcopal Church.
When you see me around, please don’t hesitate to say hi!
